Parasol month
The month of parasols at feelathome
Buying a parasol: what you need to know for the perfect terrace shade.
In recent years, there has been more and more attention for the parasol. Not surprising, because with the right parasol you can optimally enjoy your terrace! Twenty-five parasols are set up in our gardens. Each in their own setting, outside, with the garden furniture that belongs with them. Customers from the Mechelen, Leuven, Antwerp and Brussels regions already know the way. Not via a brochure or lined up inside but really outside!
A parasol provides refreshing shade in the right places and protects you from UV radiation. Moreover, the parasol helps determine the atmosphere and appearance of your terrace and gives a sense of security.
When you buy a parasol, it is important that you do so thoughtfully. Take into account the orientation of your terrace, the size of the setting underneath, the functionalities and of course the atmosphere and appearance of the parasol.
Our employees are real parasol specialists! We can rely on almost 25 years of experience and hundreds of satisfied customers. So be sure to visit us, and let us help you choose the perfect parasol!

What we are big fans of: the autoscope system
Some parasols are equipped with an autoscope system in the frame. When closing, a mechanism in the frame lifts the fabric, so the parasol can close just above a table or lounge chair without bumping into anything. Tuuci was the only one on the market with this for a long time. Umbrosa now brings a similar system. That alone says enough about how well it works and how useful it is.
What people underestimate; sometimes an autoscope is not an option but a necessity. If the parasol cannot be rotated away because there is a wall, a hedge or a tree in the way, you simply need it. Not as an extra but as the only solution.
"A customer in Mechelen had thought out his rooftop terrace down to the last detail. Two parasols, ready to order. In the evening, at home, it suddenly occurred to us: those two parasols will never work smoothly there. His terrace was 'wedged' between two walls. There were custom flower boxes dividing the space into zones and also level differences in the terraces. Rotating to close, that just wasn't possible. What he really needed: autoscope parasols. Period. We called him and simulated his situation in our warehouse. He saw it immediately; he had no other choice, but above all he was glad we had called him. Otherwise he would have made the wrong purchase."
- Geert
We know these kinds of situations because we have experienced them so often. Already almost 25 years of experience.
UMBROSA
Three years of work, now for the first time in Belgium.
This spring, feelathome adds the Umbrosa Aurelis to the collection. Designed by Italian architect and designer Monica Armani after three years of development, inspired by the hora aurea, the golden hour when light softens the world.
The Umbrosa Aurelis is a cantilever parasol where the pole stands next to the space and the fabric floats above it. No central pole. No visible mechanics. Lines and volumes in perfect balance. Available in 14 fabric colors, with a refined Grey Beige pole finish - in 2026 more to come in 2027.
feelathome is the first showroom in Belgium where you can see the Aurelis outside, in a real homely setting, with the outdoor furniture that goes with it.
Eight questions for the right parasol.
You buy a parasol for years. Those who do it right, don't start from the model but from the situation. We always start with the same eight questions:

- Do you choose a cantilever parasol or a parasol with a central mast?
- A movable base, or a ground anchor integrated into the terrace?
- What is under the parasol, and what are the dimensions?
- Can you easily rotate the parasol in the place where it will be?
- How does the sun move in relation to your terrace?
- Is it a windy spot?
- What style or atmosphere are you looking for?
- Do you want extra features such as heating, lighting or misting?
These questions determine the type. Only then come the material, the fabric color, the finish. At feelathome you can always turn to people who know the solutions and collections inside out.

Jardinico & Heatsail
Two Belgian brands. Each extraordinary in their own way.
At feelathome we are proud of what we do in Belgium, but even more of our Belgian brands. Besides Umbrosa, Jardinico and Heatsail are also purely Belgian!
Jardinico is based in Kortrijk. A one hundred percent Belgian brand, with more than twenty parasols in its collection. From a small balcony parasol of 2 by 1.5 meters to a cantilever parasol of four by four. Each model is fully customizable: color, material, finish, everything tailored to the terrace.
The Caractere is wind resistant up to 58 km/h. That is not marketing blablabla but a real design objective. The Noa collection, designed by Enrique Marti, brings a frame of natural teak wood. Warm, timeless. That 80 percent of production is exported, to Europe and far beyond, says enough about what the rest of the world thinks of this brand.
Heatsail comes from Kontich, near Antwerp. Founded in 2012, with one clear goal: to stay outside longer. The Leaf offers shade, warmth, lighting and optional misting in one. The opening mechanism is also unique, on Instagram we even got more than 1 million views with it.
On cool evenings, when the sun has set but the company remains, the Leaf is the reason to stay outside even longer. Not a parasol in the classic sense of the word. A different category, same principle: enjoying outside just as long as inside.
Tuuci
Marine-grade. Built for the long term.
Tuuci makes parasols the way other brands make boats. Marine-grade aluminum, woven fabrics that withstand extreme sun, constructions that do not fear the wind. The brand is American, with a European headquarters in the Netherlands. A Tuuci parasol stands there in April, is still there in September, and you don't think twice about it.
Tuuci was also the pioneer of the Autoscope technology in the frame. In the meantime, Umbrosa brings a similar system, but Tuuci remained for years the only one offering this solution for situations where a standard parasol simply does not work.
A parasol deserves maintenance.
The forces acting on a parasol should not be underestimated. Wind, weight, the daily movement of opening and closing: after years of use, a small break can sometimes occur. That says nothing about the quality of the product. It only means there is a limit to what each material can handle. Then it is better that a small part gives way than the entire construction.
That is why we also select our brands for repairability. And for the service that follows.

Cleaning parasol fabric: every season again.
Every autumn we send an email to everyone who has ever bought a parasol from us. Whether they want to have their fabric cleaned. Not as a sales strategy, but because we, like our customers, like everything to be in order. So because sometimes it is just necessary. A parasol fabric gets dirty, no matter how well you take care of it. Molds, green deposits, black streaks from polluted rainwater. Inevitable.
The fabric is completely cleaned and then given a protective coating. Extra water- and dirt-repellent, less chance of mold. We do this ourselves too. What we see time and again: a treated fabric is better protected afterwards than on the day it was new.
A parasol that is well maintained really lasts a generation!
